Human waste discarded by an aircraft caused alarm in Fazlipur Badli here on Saturday morning after the administration mistook it for a meteor and summoned Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) teams.
A local resident of the village spotted an object landing in his farm with a loud thud around 8 a.m. and alerted the village Sarpanch who in turn called the Police Control Room. After the information about the “mysterious object” reached the civil administration, the IMD and NDMA teams were summoned. But it eventually turned out be human excreta discarded mid-air by an aircraft.
“Since the waste did not melt for long, we mistook it for a meteor. We summoned the scientists who prima facie confirmed that it was human excreta. It later melted. Still, we have sent the sample for forensic examination,” said Sub-Divisional Officer, Pataudi, Vivek Kalia.
