A mentally-challenged teenager was allegedly gang raped in Badkhal village here earlier this month. A case was registered after the family reported the matter to the police on Sunday.

The victim’s mother, in her complaint to the police, said her 16-year-old daughter had gone missing on July 7 and was later found in the hills near the village.

The mother told the police that the girl was surrounded by several boys and held by two of them.

“The boys ran away as soon as they saw me. My daughter later told me that the boys had raped her,” the mother said in her complaint.

The woman has named six boys in her complaint to the police.

Surajkund Police Station Station House Officer Inspector Pankaj Kumar said raids were being mounted to arrest the accused, who were on the run. “All the accused belong to the victim’s village,” said Mr. Kumar.

The girl’s father is a labourer, the police said.
