The Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought to know from the Election Commission as to what action it was considering to take on allegations that the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) was violating the model code of conduct by posting alleged hate content on its website.
A Division Bench of Justice B. D. Ahmed and Justice Siddharth Mridul asked the Commission to respond to the allegations by Friday, the next date of hearing.
The petitioner, advocate Mithilesh Kumar Pandey, levelled the allegations and urged the Commission to either withdraw or suspend the recognition of the party.
Referring to the website of the party, the petitioner said that in its aim and objectives, the party talked about “elimination of non-Maratha power-mongers”. The lawyer-petitioner submitted that the Commission in response to his complaint communicated to it that it had no power to derecognise the party.
In another petition, Mr. Pandey urged the Court to declare the post poll alliance between the parties which fight elections against each other but later come together to form a government as unconstitutional.
