Delhi cop arrested after being accused of abetting woman's suicide

April 30, 2016 01:00 pm | Updated 01:00 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

A Delhi Police Inspector, the Station House Officer of Outer Delhi's Vijay Vihar Police station, has been arrested for abetting the suicide of a woman who poisoned herself outside Tis Hazari court on Friday.

Rekha (25) had left a note before consuming poisonous tablets outside Gate number 2 of the court. In the note, she accused Inspector Dinesh Kumar of harassing her and her husband Ramniwas.

Sources said Mr. Kumar had called Ramniwas, named as a bad character (BC.) in the police station register and then assaulted him brutally prior to the suicide. That incident, it is alleged, led to the woman taking the extreme step. Sabzi Mandi Police registered a case and arrested the accused cop on Saturday.
