After busting a trafficking racket by a placement agency in east Delhi on November 17, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Wednesday said it had rescued two girls from Haryana.
The DCW said officials came across document that led them to the girls during a raid on the placement agency’s office.
“During the raid, certain documents were collected by the police with names and addresses of the children employed through the placement agency,” the DCW said.
Members of the commission and the Haryana Police rescued a 10-year-old and an 18-year-old from Palwal and Rohtak. “The girls were brought to Delhi and placed in different homes as domestic help by the same agency. Their parents had been unable to contact them for the past three years,” the DCW said in a statement.
The older girl has been put in a shelter home by the Haryana Child Welfare Committee.
Other missing girls
DCW chief Swati Maliwal said, “Three girls from Jharkhand are still missing. Their parents have been threatened with rape by the trafficker’s son if they pursue the case. Immediate steps should be taken by the police to ensure the girls are rescued.”
