The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) busted a sex racket that had allegedly been operating under the guise of a placement agency, in outer Delhi’s Nihal Vihar. Two people have been arrested in this connection, the police said.
The Delhi Police said that they received the information about the racket after two women escaped from a confinement. These women, along with a few minor girls and women from other States, were allegedly kept in confinement. They reached the DCW’s mahila panchayat counsellor for help on Wednesday.
Sexual assault
One of the survivors was also sexually assaulted, the police confirmed. The two women, aged 30 and 40 years, are natives of Jharkhand and West Bengal respectively.
“Six girls and women were rescued from the placement agency office. The owners of the agency and the building have been arrested,” the police said.
Promise of job
The 30-year-old victim told the police that she was brought to Delhi from her village by a local agent who promised her a job.
The owners of the placement agency have been identified as Arti and Baburaj. The couple allegedly beat up the woman and forced her to conceive. When she refused, she was raped for two days.
Pregnant victim
The other victim said she was brought to Delhi and placed as a domestic help, but was sent back and locked up when she developed health issues.
The women told DCW that a few days ago the owners of the agency were rushing a fellow victim, who was pregnant, to the hospital and forgot to bolt the door in a hurry. The women took advantage of the situation and fled. They managed to reach their relative’s places. The DCW and Delhi Police raided the offices on their information.
