The chairman of Deccan Chronicle Holdings Ltd (DCHL), T Venkatram Reddy, was arrested late on Saturday night on charges of assaulting and threatening a man who had exposed an alleged loan fraud in which he had earlier been arrested by the CBI.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Wednesday at complainant Manish Makkar’s residence in Mehrauli. Mr. Makkar approached the police with his complaint on Friday. “A case of rioting, causing hurt, trespassing, and issuing threats has been registered against Reddy and others based on the complaint. His driver, Rakesh has also been arrested while raids are being conducted to arrest another nine persons who, according to the complaint, were part of the episode,” said a senior police officer. The police said they were also scanning the CCTV footage provided by Mr. Makkar. Reddy has been remanded in police custody for three days.
