Workers of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) gathered around the inner circle at Rajiv Chowk here on Tuesday, creating a human wall to register their protest over what they termed as the “faulty implementation” of demonetisation, on its first anniversary.
‘Double bullets’
Questioning the fulfilment of demonetisation’s stated objectives, the party workers marked November 8 as a ‘black day’.
The gathering was addressed by members of the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad and Sharad Yadav, DPCC president Ajay Maken and Congress spokesperson P. C. Chacko.
Mr. Azad questioned the BJP’s celebration of demonetisation anniversary and asked if they were “celebrating people’s barbadi” .
The DPCC president called the BJP’s move on demonetisation and the decision to implement GST as “double bullets” that disrupted the lives of common people.
“Hundreds of people lost their businesses and many others lost their lives in the stampede last year. Kahan hua Hindustan cashless?,” said Jagmohan Pradhan, a party worker.
“I am dressed in black to register my protest against the futility of the move. It achieved nothing and caused chaos and disruption,” said Mohammad Haroon, a student.
