The condition of two Air Force personnel, who were injured in the accident on Rajpath here on Sunday, continues to be critical.
“S.S. Baishak has been shifted to a hospital in Subroto Park. Shailender is in the Base Hospital in Delhi Cantonment. The condition of the two continues to be critical and the next 48 hours are crucial. Meenakshi, who had sustained head injuries, is responding well to the treatment,” said a senior police officer.
Baishak and Shailender are Leading Aircraftmen in the Air Force. Meenakshi is a housewife. Meanwhile, the bodies of the three Air Force men killed in the accident were handed over to the relatives after post-mortem.
The Air Force personnel were on a sightseeing trip to Akshardham Temple in a Maruti Omni van on Sunday morning when a speeding Skoda rammed their vehicle on Rajpath-Janpath crossing near National Museum.
Warrant officer S.K. Chakraborty (48), corporal Mukesh Chauhan (23) and van driver Lakhan Das (38), a Class IV employee at the Air Force, were killed. One of the injured, Ajay Yadav, had escaped with a fractured arm.
The driver, Nishant Kumar (26), was arrested.
