Community policing in Gurgaon soon

: Grappling with inadequate staff and lack of infrastructure, the Gurgaon police have now turned to the masses, especially the corporate houses to improve policing in the Millennium City.

Under its new initiative, “Community Policing 2.0”, Gurgaon Police Commissioner Navdeep Virk has sought to create a registered society, “Society for Safe Gurgaon”, seeking funds and other contributions from corporates and the public at large. “The proposed society will have a General Body, an Executive Council and a Secretariat to execute the vision of a safer Gurgaon and all communication will be paperless,” said Mr. Virk.

A fund with contributions from the corporate houses will be created for improving policing and managed by the Executive Council. The Gurgaon Police Commissioner will be the Honorary Chairman of the Executive Council and the Joint Commissioner of Police or Deputy Commissioner of Police will be its convenor.
