Acting on a complaint by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vijender Gupta, who was allegedly getting threats on social media by an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) functionary, the Delhi Police registered a case on Saturday night, officers said on Sunday.

The police have registered a non-cognisable report under the charge of criminal intimidation. Mr. Guptahad on Friday alleged that an AAP functionary had threatened him with assault on a microblogging site.

An officer said, Mr. Gupta has lodged a complaint at Parliament Street police station and the matter is being investigated. In a tweet, he commented against the alleged assault on the Delhi Chief Secretary by AAP MLAs at the CM’s residence last week. To this, the AAP functionary had allegedly warned Mr. Gupta ‘not to go near the CM or he would be assaulted’.
