The decomposed body of a 35-year-old cab owner was found inside his vehicle outside a residential society in Noida Sector 108 on Thursday morning, the police said, adding that the man had gone missing on Tuesday night.

Deceased Lokendra was a supervisor in a security agency, they said. The police suspect he was murdered nearly three days ago and his body was then dumped inside the car.

Locals complain

The locals complained to the police about foul smell emanating from the vehicle, they added.

“Residents of the society said the cab was seen at the same spot since the past two nights. All the tyres were punctured. They initially thought the cab driver was sleeping inside the car, but spotted the body after peeping inside. They immediately informed the police about a body lying in a vehicle outside their society, Lotus Panache, in Sector 108 here,” said Superintendent of Police (City) Arun Kumar Singh.

Head injury

The body had started decomposing, the police said, adding that Lokendra was hit on the head.

The body has been sent for post-mortem.

“Lokendra was a resident of Surajpur. He had gone out of station and was supposed to return home on Wednesday night. When he failed to come back, his family members lodged a missing complaint at Surajpur police station on Thursday morning,” Mr. Singh said.

A senior police officer said while the exact motive behind the murder is unknown, it is not robbery as the attacker did not take his wallet or car.

FIR lodged

The victim’s family members have lodged a first information report against Ajay Sharma, who works as cab driver for Lokendra.

“The family has named Ajay as the main suspect as he had gone with Lokendra and is currently missing. Ajay was working as a cab driver for him since the past two to three years. We are conducting search operations at various suspected locations to nab him,” Mr. Singh said.
