December 22, 2014 08:29 am | Updated 08:34 am IST - NEW DELHI:

A two-storey building collapsed in Chandni Mahal in the Walled City of Delhi on Sunday. No casualties were reported.

According to fire department officials, the building at Sitaram Bazar caved in around 6-25 p.m., creating panic among the people there.

The police and fire tenders were rushed to the spot but narrow alleys created hurdles for a swift response from the fire department.

“The two-storey building No. 2502-03 on Prem Narain Road, Churiwalan, Gali Kashmerian reportedly collapsed in the evening. As reported, it was an old building and no new construction was going on. One old lady was living there and she is safe,” said East Delhi Municipal Corporation Chairman Y.S. Mann.

The police are probing the matter and no case had been registered till late evening.
