Boy, girl jump in front of train in Delhi

September 13, 2012 09:48 am | Updated 04:44 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

A boy and a girl allegedly jumped in front of a train at Narela in Outer Delhi on Wednesday. Although the police have not yet come across any suicide note, they suspect it may be a case of a suicide pact. Aman Prateek (17) and Nandini Gupta (15) were run over by a train passing through Narela around 4.30 p.m.

“We have contacted their parents, who live in Narela,” said a police officer.

Class XII student Aman, son of Suresh Kumar, was a resident of Swatantra Nagar, while Class IX student Nandini lived in the Pana Udyan area of Narela.

“However, we are investigating all possibilities at this stage. The parents of both the deceased are in a state of shock. They are not in a condition to give their statement. The bodies will be handed over to them after post-mortem. We will record the statements of relatives from both sides to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the incident. The phone records of the boy and the girl will also be examined for clues. Inquest proceedings are under way,” said the officer, adding efforts were on to locate eye-witnesses.
