As the 18 edition of the Delhi Book Fair concluded here on Sunday, dates for next year’s edition were announced with a promise of a separate space for digital media exhibitors.
Book fair director Shakti Malik announced that the next edition of the fair will be organised in the last week of August or first week of September 2013. The organisers, Federation of Indian Publishers and Indian Trade Promotion Council (ITPO), also awarded the exhibitors of the best stalls in Hindi, English and regional language categories.
Awards in the form of gold, silver and bronze medals were given to Delhi Press, Diamond Pocket Books and Prabhat Prakashan in the Hindi category; Rachna Sagar, Colestic and Aadarsh Private Limited in the English category; and Cosmic Global Media and Madhur Sandesh Sangam in the regional language category. In the stationery segment, E-Monte Pens won the gold medal, while Pacific Page Production got the silver and Srinivas Fine Arts won the bronze medal.
ITPO executive director Niraj K. Gupta congratulated exhibitors and announced that digital media exhibitors will get separate spaces from next year. The revenue of exhibitors saw a 25 per cent to 30 per cent increase this year.
On the theme of this year’s fair, he said the topic was instrumental in attracting crowds. E-books and e-libraries are great examples of technological development in the publishing industry, Mr. Gupta added.
On the success of the theme, a Digital Media Initiative executive said e-books and e-publishing were very well received this year with more interest from publishers and authors rather than visitors.
