A day after appointing Bharatiya Janata Party legislator Vijendra Gupta as Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly, Speaker Ram Niwas Goel said on Friday that the Narendra Modi Government should also appoint an opposition MP to the post in Lok Sabha. Clarifying that the ruling party should go by the democratic convention and amend the Constitution if required for appointing the leader of the party in Opposition having maximum strength as Leader of the Opposition.
The BJP government has denied the post to the Congress as it does not have 10 per cent of the total number of MPs in Lok Sabha.
