BJP national president Nitin Gadkari on Sunday assured that on coming to power his party would provide houses on interest free loans to 5 lakh families in Delhi.
Addressing a “Janakrosh Rally” at Mehrauli in South Delhi, Mr. Gadkari charged that due to the wrong and anti-people decisions of Congress Governments at the Centre and in Delhi, the prices of almost all essential commodities have skyrocketed. “Corruption and crime is rampant across the country and there is nothing like a Government in Delhi. There is an atmosphere of loot and anarchy for which only the Congress is responsible,” he said, adding that if this Government was not removed soon then the country would be ruined.
Mr. Gadkari assured that the party would also encourage planned housing in Delhi and construct five lakh houses for the poor under the economically weaker section category. He said these houses would be made available on interest-free loans to these poor.
BJP’s Delhi unit president Vijender Gupta while referring to the December 16 gang-rape case said the Government had made a lot of promises about increasing the security of the common people but has not done anything on this count. Since that day, he said 47 other cases of rape have been reported and the Centre and Delhi Governments have only been engaged in a blame game.
“Even today 96 per cent of women say that they are not safe and free in their houses and afraid of any untoward incident,” he said.
Senior party legislator Ramesh Bidhuri accused the Delhi Government of playing fraud with the people of Delhi in the name of regularising unauthorised colonies. He demanded that the Lal Dora area of villages should be extended and the farmers should be allowed to sink bore wells for irrigation and provided power at concessional rates.
Mr. Bidhuri also demanded immediate construction of permanent roads and laying of sewer lines in all unauthorised colonies and villages.
