It’s been a week since a local BJP leader, his security guard and driver were shot dead in Greater Noida’s Bisrakh, but the Uttar Pradesh Police are yet to make any headway in the case.

According to the police, they have sent several teams to western U.P. in search of the accused.

“We have formed several teams which are working to identify and arrest the shooters. A number of them have been sent to western UP in search of the shooters,” said Suniti, Superintendent of Police(Rural), Gautam Budh Nagar.

Bike-borne assailants

BJP leader Shiv Kumar, his driver Rashpal and security guard Balli were going towards Ghaziabad in a car when four assailants on two motorbikes opened fire at them on November 16.

Mr. Kumar and Mr. Balli died on the spot, while Mr. Rashpal succumbed to the injuries later. A 15-year-old was also killed when the car accidentally hit her during the attack.

According to the police, the victims’ kin have accused four persons of murder. Six unidentified persons have also been included in the FIR.

“We have detained 8-10 people in connection with the murder and are continuously working on the case. Mr. Kumar’s family has named some persons who they had a dispute with earlier. We are questioning them too,” Ms. Suniti added.

Meanwhile, the victims’ family members have demanded a CBI probe.
