Strong words: Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari (centre) leads a protest against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday.

The Delhi BJP on Tuesday demanded Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation over the alleged manhandling of Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash.

Describing the incident as “an act of urban Naxalism”, Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari sought Mr. Kejriwal’s resignation, a high-level inquiry into the incident, and suspension of the legislators concerned.

“ArvindKejriwal and his Goon MLAs misbehaved and threatened the Chief secretary of NCT Delhi Government last night... another shameful act of @AamAadmiParty Goons... an act of Urban Naxalism... #UrbanNaxaliteKejriwal must Resign [sic],” he tweeted.

Led by Mr. Tiwari, BJP workers held a demonstration at the Chief Minister’s residence alleging that it was symptomatic of “an administrative crisis.”

The demonstrators assembled near Chandagi Ram Akhada and proceeded towards the CM’s residence.

On their way they broke police barricades, following which they were detained.

‘Govt must be dismissed’

Former Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay said the alleged assault on the Chief Secretary had exposed the “anarchic face” of Mr. Kejriwal’s government.

The Leader of the Opposition, Vijender Gupta, said that the AAP had “lost the right to continue in power”.

Strongly condemning the alleged assault of Mr. Prakash, the LoP questioned why neither the CM nor his deputy Manish Sisodia came to the top official’s aid.

“Rather they supported the assailants. It is shocking beyond words. Such a government must be dismissed,” Mr. Gupta said, adding that the incident was a “well planned and well thought-out conspiracy against the bureaucracy”.

“Calling the Chief Secretary at midnight to his residence in the presence of a dozen aggressive MLAs casts aspersions on the will and intent of the Chief Minister. There was nothing urgent to be discussed but as a sincere and law abiding bureaucrat, he participated in the meeting at such a late hour. His only fault was that he refused to obey the illegal diktats of the Chief Minister and his cronies,” Mr. Gupta said.
