BJP MLAs and Congress leaders, including former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, met Lieutenant-Governor Anil Baijal on Wednesday and asked him to take action in the case of the alleged attack on Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs.
The leaders of the parties met Mr. Baijal at Raj Niwas, separately, to complain about the alleged attack on the top bureaucrat inside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Monday night.
The four BJP MLAs in the Delhi Assembly, including Leader of the Opposition, Vijender Gupta, demanded “early dismissal of such a lawless government”, a statement from Mr. Gupta’s office said. He added that the AAP wanted to create an “atmosphere of fear” for the officials working in the government.
‘Ensure security’
The Congress delegation asked the L-G to ensure that officials have enough security to work in the government, Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken said. He added that the government had deliberately been involved in such incidents in order to divert the public’s attention from its “failures”.
Ms. Dikshit said that officials should be respected and that if they were insulted then the administrative system of Delhi would “collapse”.
