As many as 17 motorcycles were gutted in a fire that was reported in a commercial building in South-West Delhi’s Bijwasan on Sunday night.

It took 13 fire tenders more than four hours to control the flames, which were reported just after midnight.

No human casualty was reported, primarily because there was just one guard in the building at that time.

The motorcycles were parked in the building’s basement, which is where the fire started.

Since the basement stored paper material, the flames spread quickly.

However, it was controlled before it could spread to the upper floors.

Though the source of the fire could not be ascertained immediately, fire officials suspect that a short circuit could have sparked it.
