Bike-borne men snatch woman’s handbag

Two bike-borne men allegedly snatched a woman’s handbag in east Delhi’s Madhu Vihar on Tuesday night, the police said on Thursday.

In her complaint to the police, Nalini Mishra, the daughter of retired High Court judge R.R. Mishra, said she was returning home in a rickshaw from Madhu Vihar market around 8 p.m. when the duo snatched her purse near a traffic signal at IP Extension.

“The snatchers were on a motorcycle and I was only able to note down part of the registration number. The purse had ₹4,000- ₹5,000, an ATM card, some medicines, a ring, a diary and my mobile phone,” she stated in her complaint.

A case has been registered under Sections 379 (punishment for theft) and 356 (assault or criminal force in attempt to commit theft of property carried by a person) of the Indian Penal Code at Madhu Vihar police station.
