Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) released its second cut-off list on Monday that provided hope to many aspirants as the scores required for admission to various courses dropped by three to five percentage points.
All the general category seats are still up for grabs and the cut-off for students from outside the National Capital Territory has also fallen and they no longer need to have scored a perfect 100% to gain admission.
Fall of 3%-5%
Several seats reserved for ST candidates, however, have already been filled.
For B.A. (Hons.) Economics, the cut-off for commerce students from Delhi, which was 93.75%, has fallen to 90.5%.
For B.A. (Hons.) English, students from the arts stream have a relatively lower cut-off as compared to Delhi University (DU) as they require 88.25% to secure a seat. It was earlier set at 92%.
For those who studied commerce in Class XII but want to pursue History, Psychology or Sociology, the cut-off was 98.5%, 98.25% and 98.5% respectively in the first list. This has now fallen to 94.25%, 96.5% and 95.25% respectively.
Students from the arts stream had to get 93.5%, 93.25% and 93.5% respectively for the same courses.
In the second list, however, this has come down to 89.25%, 91.5% and 90.25% respectively for students from NCT.
Simplified process
The university reserves 85% seats for students from NCT. It had asked for 100% marks from commerce students looking to pursue B.A. (Hons.) History, Sociology and Psychology. The qualifying mark has now dipped to 98.25%, 98.75% and 98.5%.
The university has also released a list of students who have requested a change from the Karampura campus to the Kashmere Gate campus before the second list was announced.
This year, AUD has made the admission process very simple for students as it has released a merit list with the names of students that have cleared the cut-off, which leaves no scope for ambiguity. It has even allocated which campus the student has to visit to take admission.
Time till July 13
This year, for a total of 85 seats in B.A. programmes for its Kashmere Gate and Karampura campuses, AUD had in its first cut-off list released names of 277 students for B.A. (Hons.) Economics, 364 for B.A. (Hons.) English and 324 for B.A. (Hons.) Psychology.
Admissions under the second cut-off list will be done between July 11 and 13.
AUD will release its third list on July 14 and the fourth list on July 18.
Classes will begin from August 1.
AUD also has hostel facilities for women at Kashmere Gate Campus. Students can apply for hostel accommodation once they have secured admission.
