Bail for jacket scam accused

A court here on Tuesday granted bail to a senior Union Home Ministry official, allegedly involved in a scam in the purchase of bulletproof jackets for Central paramilitary forces, due to CBI's failure to file a charge sheet within the stipulated 60 days.

Radhey Shyam Sharma, an Indian Railway and Engineering Service Officer of 1984 batch who is accused of taking a Rs.10 lakh bribe, was granted bail along with co-accused R. K. Gupta, director of a Delhi-based company.

“The accused are admitted on bail on furnishing of personal and surety bond of Rs.50,000 each,” said Special CBI Judge O. P. Saini who heard the case at his residence. -- PTI
