A Delhi court on Wednesday granted bail to 13 accused in the fake law degree case involving former Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Sandeep Garg granted bail to the accused — including some employees of the Tilka Manjhi University at Bhagalpur in Bihar, from where Mr. Tomar had allegedly procured the fake degree — on a personal bond of ₹50,000 each with a surety of a like amount.

BCD complaint

The police had not charge-sheeted the accused university employees but the ACMM had summoned them as accused.

Mr. Tomar is already out on bail. The court had taken cognisance of the charge-sheet against them for offences punishable under Sections 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document) and 109/120B (abetment of criminal conspiracy) of the IPC.

The Delhi Police had arrested Tomar on June 9, 2015, on the basis of a complaint by the Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) filed with the DCP (South) through its secretary Puneet Mittal.
