“What does PM Modi want?”, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal demanded in the wake of a raid by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at his Cabinet colleague and Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Satyendar Jain’s residence here in connection with alleged violations in hiring architects for the department.

Later, Mr. Kejriwal took to Twitter again to impute that the raid by the CBI was in relation to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s recent decision to reign in “profiteering” private hospitals and medical establishments.

“What does PM Modi want?”, Mr. Kejriwal tweeted after the PWD Minister, in a tweet earlier in the day, confirmed that the agency had raided his house over the alleged hiring of a creative team by his department.

The raid was conducted after the CBI filed a fresh case against Mr. Jain.

“Yesterday, Satyendar announced a policy against profiteering private hospitals, today the Modi government got the CBI to conduct a raid. The BJP wants this policy to be scrapped. This policy is revolutionary. The general public stands to benefit much from it. We are not going to get cowed down by the CBI. The policy will remain in force no matter how many raids are conducted,” Mr. Kejriwal said in a tweet on Wednesday.

In reference to the Delhi government’s recent decision to cap “excess charges” by private hospitals, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said the AAP dispensation was stopping “loot” of private hospitals, but the “Centre gets pain, and it gets raids done by CBI”.
