Anita Murari, 50, wife of Lady Hardinge Medical College and Associated Hospitals' director Atul Murari, died here of suspected dengue haemorrhagic fever on Thursday morning.

She was living on the campus and had been hospitalised following high fever and was being treated for dengue for nearly a week. Anita was first admitted to Lady Hardinge as soon as she had high fever and later shifted to B.L. Kapur Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, where she died on Thursday morning.

“Preliminary investigations suggests it to be a case of dengue hemorrhagic fever. Once confirmed, this will be the fourth case of dengue death in the city. Twelve new cases of dengue fever have been reported from different hospitals during the past 24 hours, taking the number of people affected by the virus to 354 this season. We have sent a surveillance team to Lady Hardinge Medical College campus to check for mosquito breeding,” said Municipal Corporation of Delhi (Health Committee) chairman V. K.Monga.

“The death and the number of dengue cases reported this year is very less compared to what was witnessed last year.”
