A 20-year-old girl from Manipur, who came to the Capital in search of a job, was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside her rented accommodation at Munirka in South Delhi on Thursday morning. The police, prima facie, ruled out the possibility of murder and have sent the body for post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death.
According to the police, the deceased, identified as Aben Sofia, had come to Delhi around a week ago to meet her distant relatives – a brother-sister duo – who live in a rented accommodation at Munirka.
Before coming to Delhi, Sofia had asked her relatives to arrange a job for her here. She came here last week and began working with a call centre.
The police said around 7-30 a.m. on Thursday, when Sofia’s sister came to the house after completing her night shift, she noticed her sleeping and subsequently she also went to sleep without disturbing her.
Later, around 11-30 a.m. her brother Moses arrived at the house only to discover Sofia frothing from the mouth. At this, he shook her to wake her up but blood started oozing from her nose.
Immediately, he raised an alarm, and rushed her to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead upon arrival.
Meanwhile, the police was informed and a team was sent to the flat.
The brother and sister have been questioned. They are learnt to have told the police that they were unaware and have no idea what led to her death.
