AIIMS rape accused given bail as victim turns hostile

April 22, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Following a statement issued to the Magistrate by the ‘victim’ denying sexual assault’, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has claimed that it is relooking into the case where a hospital’s junior resident has been accused of rape.

Reinstatement

The accused has been granted bail and has now moved a petition to the hospital administration seeking reinstatement.

Previously, an FIR was registered in this case in February at the Hauz Khas police station under Section 376 (rape) and provisions of the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act, 1956, on the complaint of the victim, a native of Sikkim.

On the basis of this FIR, the junior resident in the department of neurosurgery was arrested. The accused was placed under suspension.

V. Srinivas, AIIMS Deputy Director (Administration), said that they have received the relevant legal documents in the case and that the hospital administration will take necessary action.
