The Gurgaon Police on Tuesday issued an advisory to shopping mall managements and bar owners to deploy trained security guards, install closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras and properly frisk those entering the premises on the eve of the New Year to ensure peaceful celebrations.

The police will put more than 50 traffic check-points across the city to check traffic violations on New Year’s eve, especially instances of drunken driving.

Bar owners have been advised not to serve liquor to underage persons, not to serve liquor after the stipulated time and frisk those entering the premises. Also, special joint teams of personnel from Revenue and Excise Departments and the police, equipped with video cameras, have been constituted to check violations and initiate action as per the law, the advisory said. Mall owners have also been issued similar advisory.

The police have advised revellers to adhere to traffic restrictions in place during the celebrations. The revellers attending programmes at malls on Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road have been advised to park their vehicles at Leisure Valley Ground. The IFFCO Chowk-Bristol Chowk stretch on M.G. Road has been declared as “No Drive Zone” from 5 p.m. on December 31 to 2 a.m. on January 1.

However, residents of the area will be given special entry tickets and distribution of these resident entry stickers is being co-ordinated by Sector 29 Police Station through the respective residents’ welfare associations. Buses will be pressed into service to ferry people to the shopping malls from the Leisure Valley Ground.
