The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on Thursday sent a notice to former Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit, in connection with the alleged water tanker scam. ACB Chief and Special Commission of Police M.K. Meena said that notices have been sent to Ms. Dikshit and few Delhi Jal Board officials.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Meena said, “They shall be questioned on August 26.” When asked what happens if Ms. Dikshit, who is now Congress’ choice for Uttar Pradesh chief ministerial candidate, fails to turn up before the ACB despite the notice, the ACB chief said that they can’t predict anything and action will be taken as per law. The notices were sent on Wednesday under the provisions of section 160 of the CrPC.

A case was registered by the ACB on June 20 in connection with the alleged scam linking Ms. Sheila Dikshit after they had received two complaints. Those named in the complaints included Ms. Dikshit and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

A week prior to registration of the case, the Delhi government had sent a report of a fact-finding committee on the scam to Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung.
