The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has alleged that the Centre is incapable of providing justice to the victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and dared the ruling dispensation to submit all documents so as to facilitate the probe by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
“It’s not about aggression. It has been 32 years and there has been no justice given in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case. We had asked for an SIT probe in the matter. The Centre is not doing anything,” AAP leader Ashutosh told the media.
Escalating his attack on the government, Ashutosh said that the Centre was not interested in bringing the perpetrators to book.
“In such a situation, give us all the documents and allow us to form an SIT. We will show you how we provide them justice. Both the BJP and the Akali Dal are not interested in providing justice. Weren’t the people of Delhi the victims of 1984? The BJP government and the PM have problems if we talk about justice,” he added.

In a full page advertisement published in newspapers, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal urged PM Modi to either get the SIT, constituted by the Home Ministry, “to do something, or wind it up and allow the Delhi government to set up an SIT, which will do a proper probe and get justice for the victims”.
“As you are aware, this year marks the 32nd year of the anti-Sikh massacre. In these 32 years, 10 Commissions and panels have investigated the matter, but justice has eluded the victims. It was a long-standing demand of the Sikh community that an SIT be set up. However, no government ever did anything in 30 years,” read the advertisement.
As per the norm, the SIT, which has decided to reopen at least 75 cases related to the riots, will issue ads regarding these cases and ask the victims and witnesses to join the probe.
