A collage of three stories

February 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - NEW DELHI:

‘Bahroop’, a theatre group that largely consists of students from JNU and other academic campuses, is performing a play titled ‘Ajanta Ki Taraf’. It is a collage of three stories by Urdu writer Khwaja Ahmad Abbas that profiles a journey from brutality to beauty which India undertakes in her spiritual quest.

The play is about a couple tormented by the communal violence in the aftermath of the Partition that takes refuge in the aesthetic solace of the Ajanta caves but only to be exposed to a destabilising dilemma – what’s eternal, coarseness of cruelty or purity of passion?

The play will be performed on March 1 at Studio Safdar, Putlinagar, near Shadipur metro station.
