The Delhi government has recommended a CBI probe into the alleged discrepancies with regard to the shifting of Mirambika Free Progress School to a new location, and the role of Education Department officials in the matter.
DoE official suspended
Earlier this month, Education Minister Manish Sisodia had ordered the suspension of a Directorate of Education (DoE) official for submitting a false affidavit before the high court in a case relating to the school.
‘Criminal investigation’
“It seems prima facie there was collusion between Sri Aurobindo Education Society and officials of the DoE. Hence, criminal investigation of the entire matter of the shift and the role played by the DoE officials is required,” said Mr. Sisodia in an official order.
“Investigation should include (but not be limited to) the following acts of omission and commission: inspections of Mirambika School, providing information on Mirambika School in response to the RTI application, filing affidavits before the high court, approving the shift of students to Mothers’ International School and the formation of inspection teams,” the order said.
The matter dates back to 2015 when the school cited the threat of land lease cancellation by the DDA, an allegation the land-owning agency denied.
