Four men who duped 2,000 people on the pretext of providing jobs have been arrested in west Delhi, the Delhi Police said on Wednesday.

The police said the accused had been operating placement agencies that advertised jobs with the Delhi Metro as well as various banks and hospitals. To lure people, the accused would put up posters at busy spots around the city advertising contract jobs.

When the victims would call the number provided, they would be asked to come to an office and fill out forms.

The accused would then take ₹2,250 from each applicant, telling them to get in touch after a few days. When the applicants called and visited the office after some time, they would find the phone switched off and the premises vacated.
