A two-year-old girl and a married woman were allegedly raped in separate cases in the Millennium City during the past 24 hours. The accused in the toddler’s rape case has been arrested.
In the first case, a 37-year-old man allegedly lured a two-year-old girl in his neighbourhood to his rented accommodation on the pretext of offering her sweets around 9 p.m. on Monday and allegedly raped her.
When the toddler cried, her mother rushed to the accused’s room and caught him in the act. She then reported the matter to the police and accused Bablu was arrested. The accused is a daily-wager. “A case has been registered at DLF Phase-II PS under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in this connection,” said Gurgaon Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner of Police Hawa Singh.
In another case, a beautician lodged a police complaint saying one Mahesh Kumar, a resident of Rewari in Haryana, had allegedly raped her on several occasions on the false promise of marrying her.
The victim originally belongs to Uttar Pradesh and has a nine-year-old son from her first marriage. A case has been registered at Sector 29 Police Station based on the complaint of the woman, said the police.
