A 20-year-old girl has alleged that she had been gang-raped several times in the past one year by four men in Rohini here.

According to the police, the victim and one of the accused in the case, Babu, had known each other for the past one year. The two first became friends and then on the pretext of marrying her, Babu established physical relations with her.

The girl, in her complaint further alleged that Babu along with three of his friends -- identified as Gaurav, Jatin and Monu -- often visited her house and all four of them raped her. In the past one year, they raped her several times under the influence of alcohol. She often objected to this, but Babu told her that he would marry her only if she gave in to their demands.

“On Thursday, Babu along with Gaurav visited the girl’s house. The victim and Babu had an argument as she refused to comply with the demands made by him and his friends anymore. At this, Babu refused to marry her and threatened her of dire consequences,” said a police officer.

The officer added that the victim then approached the police and narrated how she was gang-raped many times in the past by the four accused. Following this, a case was registered under Sections 376 (2) g [gang rape] and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

Babu and Gaurav were subsequently arrested by the police and produced before a court here which sent them both to judicial custody.

It is learnt that on Friday, the girl retracted from her earlier position and expressed her willingness to withdraw the case. The, police, however said they have not received any written application from the girl regarding the same.

“As for us, we are treating it as any other gang-rape case. The two accused have been produced before the court. The victim’s statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code has been recorded before a magistrate,” said the officer.

The other two accused are absconding.
