A 12-year-old boy has alleged that he was being sodomised by four young men at a madrasa in North-East Delhi for the past two years in connivance with the institution head. The police have detained some of the suspects.
The matter was reported to the police on Saturday after the victim narrated his plight to his parents. He alleged that four young men had been sexually exploiting him for the past two years. They would allegedly take him to a basement inside the madrasa premises and sodomise him. On a few occasions, they also took him to secluded places and sexually assaulted him. The boy told the police that when he reported the matter to the madrasa head, he was threatened not to reveal the incident to anyone.
“It is a shocking incident where a child was being sexually abused inside an educational institution. It has also come to light that the person heading the madrasa had allowed the perpetrators of the crime to ‘teach a lesson’ to the boy as he was a notorious student. We have learnt that some local politicians were attempting to hush up the matter. The incident has been reported to the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights which has decided to take it up with all seriousness,” said Raaj Mangal Prasad of NGO Pratidhi.
The victim’s father, who is a businessman, said: “A case has now been registered and some persons have been picked up for questioning. A couple of days ago, my son disclosed that he was being sodomised and that the madrasa head had warned him against revealing the incident to anyone. We finally decided to report the matter to the police.”
