100% placement at govt-run centre

August 10, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 07:38 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The World Class Skill Centre (WCSC), run by the Delhi government in collaboration with the Singapore government, organised a ceremony on Tuesday to hand out job certificates to 180 students who completed a certificate course in skill development.

The centre offers four one-year courses — Hospitality Operations, Retail Services, Software Testing and Finance.

The institute achieved 100 per cent placement, something that comes as an important push to the government’s efforts to offer skill-based training to ensure students employable after the course. Out of the 180 students, 89 are from the northeast.

Ramnganing Muivah, the secretary of the North Eastern Council, was the chief guest at the function.

He urged the students from the northeast to go out into the world, work and follow their dreams, but also come back and work for the development of the region.

He suggested that those who had completed the Hospitality Operations course should explore the possibility of starting home stays in their homes and villages to showcase the beauty of their culture and State.

Plans to increase seats

The WCSC plans to increase the number of seats from the current 180 seats to 400.
