Woman, two children found dead in water tank

A woman and her two children were found dead in a ground level water tank at Nehru Nagar at Kangayampalayam near Sulur on Saturday morning.

The deceased have been identified as N. Ezhilarasi (22) and Srivardhini (4) and Dharanisri (1).Police suspect that the woman could have committed suicide after drowning the girls in that tank following a dispute with her husband.

It is learnt that her husband N. Naveen Kumar (25), a driver, was an alcoholic and frequently quarrel with his wife. It is learnt that they had a quarrel on Friday night also.

Missing

On Saturday morning Naveen found them missing and was shocked to see them dead in the water tank when he went there to fetch water.

Sulur Police retrieved the bodies and sent them to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination. Revenue Divisional Officer of Coimbatore and Deputy Superintendent of Police of Karumathampatty were conducting parallel inquires on the incident.

The case has been registered as unnatural death (under 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure).

No external injuries

While the police said that there were no external injuries on the bodies, the case could be altered only after post-mortem examination on Sunday.

According to the police, it was an inter-caste marriage for the couple who fell in love and were separated by the girl’s parents.

Ezhilarasi from a backward class community and Naveen (Dalit) studied in the same school at Sulur when they fell in love.She completed higher secondary schooling at Thoothukudi and before joining nursing in a college at Namakkal.
