Jeniffer Ponmalar (28), wife of Dinakaran Pakiaraj, committed suicide by jumping off a bridge on Pollachi-Anamalai Road on Monday night. According to the Anamalai Police, the incident happened when Ponmalar and Pakiaraj were returning home on a two-wheeler from Pollachi. The couple had left for Pollachi earlier in the evening after Ponmalar’s brother Jayakumar had reportedly asked the couple to move out of the house that was “too small to accommodate five people”.

Ponmalar along with Pakiaraj stayed at her parents’ place. The police said that Ponmalar had asked Pakiaraj to stop the vehicle, got down and ran towards the bridge and jumped. Pakiaraj took her in an ambulance to a private hospital where she died. She had suffered head injuries.

Police query

The Economic Offences Wing questioned Maniraj alias Manikandan (36), owner of an emu farm, who was arrested on the charge of duping investors. After the police secured him from a hideout in Avinashi, they questioned him and sought details about his investments, bank lockers and other assets. Based on the information he provided, the police initiated steps to access his locker at a bank in Tirupur. The police are on the lookout for his relatives Muthusamy and Subramani.

Two held

The Sulur police arrested Rajesh (23) and his brother Rajiv (20) on the charge of stabbing their employer.

The police said that they were caught at the Chinniampalayam check post on Monday after the police found blood stains on the shirt of one of them.

During interrogation, the two had told the police that they had stabbed their employer Rajesh after he failed to pay their salary dues.
