G. Jeevitha (26) and her second son Guhan (2) were killed while her elder son Akilesh (4) was badly injured after a train hit them, on Thursday morning.
Akilesh is being treated in a private hospital in the city.
Police inquiries led to suspicion that the woman could have ended her life due to a family dispute.
A case has been registered and investigations are on.Electrocuted
P. Selvakumar (28), a construction worker of Manaparai in Tiruchi district, was electrocuted while he was at work in Gandhi Maa Nagar, on Wednesday.
The Saravanampatty police said that he was operating an electric motor to pump water and that he reportedly fell down after suffering an electric shock.
Ganja seized
The Pollachi West Police arrested two persons in separate incidents on Wednesday for selling ganja.
The police said that 2.5 kg ganja was seized from them.
