Woman, accomplice held for killing man

The police have arrested Palanisamy, 37, and Pappathi, 55, on the charge of murdering the Pappathi’s husband, Thirumalaisamy, a few days ago.

The police said that Thirumalaisamy was found strangulated outside his house in Puliakulam. Pappathi confessed to the crime, and revealed Palanisamy’s involvement.

Woman held

The District Crime Branch has arrested Amutha Meenakshi, 33, of Kattoor on the charge of cheating two persons by selling a housing plot using forged documents.

The police are on the lookout for her father Mahadevan, 60. The police said that they had forged documents to sell a land in Kumaran Avenue in K. Vadamadurai to a former Cooperative Department employee G. Sankara Narayanan, and his brother Vijayaraghavan.

The incident came to light when Mr. Narayanan went to the site to take up construction of a house.

A person who was present there claimed ownership of the land. On verification of documents, Mr. Narayanan realised that he had been duped.

He then lodged a complaint with the Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore Rural, who forwarded the same to the crime branch.

Gambling: 33 held

The police have arrested 33 people from across the district on the charge of gambling, and seized Rs. 57,000.
