Where does that drainage exist?

Residents of Ward 21 are perplexed at the corporation administration’s statement that a storm water drain has been constructed from Goundanaickenpalayam to Kanchanpalayam at a cost of ₹ 74.8 lakh.

This was one of the projects they listed while replying to queries under the Right to Information Act on development works carried out in the ward.

But in reality, no such drainage exists, said E. Ambika, a resident of the ward.

According to the residents, the lack of proper drainage facility is causing enormous problems when it rains.

S. Sundarapandian, district convener of Aam Aadmi Party, said that giving wrong answers to queries under the RTI had been taken to the notice of the senior officials.

They are yet to give a proper reply how ₹ 74.8 lakh was spent, as no such storm water drain has come up in the locality. The administration should clarify the same at the earliest, he added.
