‘Vishnupriya was threatened’

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tiruchengode, R. Vishnupriya, who committed suicide at her residence on Friday, was threatened and the officer ending her life has connection with the investigation into the death of Dalit youth Gokulraj, Puthiya Tamilagam leader K. Krishnaswamy has alleged.

Addressing reporters in Coimbatore on Saturday, Dr. Krishnasamy said that a gangster, Payasam alias Pechimuthu, from Srivaikuntam, had threatened the officer a few days ago. Vishnupriya’s senior officers had also harassed her.

Dr. Krishnasamy said that he would rake up the issue in the Assembly on Monday. The Puthiya Tamilagam would also work with other political parties and stage a protest in this connection, he added.
