Unaware of the cancellation of the grievances redress meeting slum dwellers of Pillayarpuram near Sundarapuram came to the Collectorate here on Monday to petition the District Collector seeking basic amenities.

The dwellers said that around 350 families were residing there for more than 10 years. But the locality lacked drinking water, road, public toilets, street lights among others. The women claimed that all their previous petitions had gone in vain.

The police promised to take necessary action by coordinating with the local body representatives.
