Exotic flowers from South Africa, Singapore and Netherlands and Indian cut and loose flowers would be on display at the two-day Kovai Flower Show-2010, beginning at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, here on January nine.
The main aim of the show was to educate the children and public to love nature and to conserve the environment, Dr. N. Kumar, Dean (horticulture), TNAU said in a release on Tuesday.
The show would help bring the flower and garden industry professionals, buyers, wholesalers, importers and growers from all over the Country and would serve as a platform for gaining knowledge and to showcase talents of students and researchers, and as an entertainment to relieve stress, he said.
As part of the flower show, competitions on creative activities like painting, poem writing, flower arrangement, flower rangoli, vegetable carving and photography are being organised for school and college students.
The show, jointly organised by TNAU and Rotary Club, will be inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Agriculture Minister, Veerapandi S. Arumugam in the presence of State Rural Industries and Animal Husbandry Minister Ponglur N. Palanisamy.
