Meanwhile, the Saravanampatti police submitted the seized currencies - 114 bundles of notes of ₹1,000 denomination and 32 bundles of ₹500 denomination, before the court. The two persons were found in possession of the demonetised currency during a vehicle check on Sunday on Sathy Road.

Women block road

Over 200 women staged a road roko on Thennampalayam-Rasipalayam road near Somanur on Monday opposing the shifting of a Tasmac outlet from Arasur pirivu to Thennampalayam. The women blocked the road stating that they had already submitted a petition to the District Collector opposing the move to open Tasmac outlet at Thennampalayam. They had also staged a hunger strike raising the same demand. The protesters left the place after police officials held talks. Traffic on the stretch was disrupted following the protest.
