Hats, and goggles have been distributed to 160 traffic police personnel here to help them beat the summer heat.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) S. Saravanan on Thursday distributed them to the officers in a function held at North Coimbatore Chinthamani junction. Mr. Saravanan said that they were purchased using funds from the department.
The hat is made of materials that reduce sweating. It has holes to provide ventilation.
Mr. Saravanan said that fruit juices or butter milk too will be provided to those on duty at frequent intervals. This will continue till June. Lemon juice will be given to the officers on duty at 10.30 a.m., 12.30 p.m., 1.30 p.m., and 3.30 p.m.
All traffic Sub-Inspectors have been given reflective jackets, and wheel clamps.
Vehicles found at no parking areas will be locked, he said.
