Coimbatore City Police have announced certain changes in the city traffic pattern from Wednesday afternoon in view of the Koniamman temple car festival.
All vehicles from Palakkad Road and Pollachi Road will have to take either the Perur by-pass road or the Valankulam bypass road instead of entering the Oppanakkara Street.
Two-wheelers
Two wheelers and light commercial vehicles from Avanashi Road flyover and Lanka Corner proceeding towards Palakkad Road could take the Big Bazaar Street and Vincent Road to reach Ukkadam and proceed further.
Heavy vehicles Heavy vehicles should take the Lanka Corner Junction, CMC Hospital, Classic Tower road and reach the Valankulam bypass road railway flyover to reach Ukkadam and then proceed further. City buses will be allowed to ply as usual via Town Hall. However, they will not be allowed to proceed via Vysial Street or Oppanakka Street. Vehicles from Avanashi Road flyover should take the Brooke Bond or Krishnasamy Mudaliar Road instead of taking the Mill Road.
Diversion
Vehicles from Mettuppalayam Road should take the Brooke Bond or Krishna Samy Mudaliar Road (not the Flower Market Road) and then proceed via Avanashi Road flyover. Vehicles from Thadagam Road, Perur Road should take the Ponniaharajapuram, Chockampudur and Ramamurthy Road and proceed via Shivalaya Theatre road to reach Perur bypass road to reach Ukkadam and proceed further.
Restrictions
For one-day, restrictions for lorry traffic will be different. Trucks will not be allowed to ply between 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Raja Street, Range Gowder Street, Idayar Street, Thomas Street, Oppanakkara Street, Vysial Street, Big Bazaar Street and Karuppa Gounder Street.
